A place holder for our pots and pans has always been the case of an afterthought. If we can put them outside the house and summon for them when needed, we’ll probably do, but that’s not just doable. And so, we cram them into tight spaces under the kitchen counter, sharing the same cavity where pests and vermin may have taken permanent residence. Ew.

The plastic box at the top of the fridge is out of place. Mmmnn ...

There has to be a better place for them. Here’s what I did a couple of years back. Let me share it with you.

TIPS IN BUYING WOOD PALETTE:

As a vendor practice in the country that I live, these recycled wood pallets usually come in bundles of ten pieces for Php 600. Tying them together makes them appear straight. Yet when you untie them they spring back to their bent, warped, or cupped state – quite unusable for carpentry works, actually. Pick your unbundled choices when possible. Insist on it.

I repurposed woods from shipping crates. These are ordinary and plentiful pines, but I like the patina that it has gotten after the rough and tumble of shipment. The more they’re distressed with nail marks and gouges, the more they gain character. Take a look.
