WOOD INLAY
The wood inlay isn't just an aesthetic touch to a workpiece, It can also serve as a strong fastener.
I posted this picture on Facebook some five years ago to answer my sister's query with regards to how to remedy a crack timber.
In those days, I wasn't doing woodwork yet reduced only to a spectator in awe at other people's work. Today, I just did what I thought was an impossible thing for me to do. Today, I did it. I did a wood inlay.
Some find this ornate piece of craftsmanship an unnecessary waste of time. If the argument used to draw this conclusion is based on mechanical strength to bind the woods together, I may agree. But that is not all there is to it.
Have you ever heard of the phrase, "labor of love?" Truly indeed, these things, this penchant for going the extra mile, wouldn't have come for anything.
