IMPERIAL BED

This imperial-sized bed is the largest bed I've ever attempted.

Here’s a bed that a repeat client asked me to make. The thing is big, ginormous, actually. It can fit two two-hundred pounder sleepers with still enough space to accommodate the rough and tumble if the pair decides to get kinky rather than go to sleep. But why do they call it a Queen-sized bed? Beats me.

The frame design calls for a lot of timber than warranted had it been of an austere plan. But the client insists on it and is dreaming about it; who knows, she must have slept on it in her dreams. Thus, seeing her enthusiasm over the project, with heaps of money behind it, I responded with gleeful excitement as well.

As was in any project that I do, I went into SketchUp modeling. In three hours and more than three coffee cups, I was done. I got to render the model and sent her the 3-d perspective of the bed. Copies of it are in the pictures below.

I hope my friend, a classmate, and now a client will forgive me for sharing her design with you all.
